DISCUSSION

The project focuses on the sensory experience of different actors in a particular place, Camden Market. In the Exploration section, I have demonstrated the sensory experience that participants create and receive in their roles. In the following sections, I draw on Mélodie Cartel et al.’s (2022) framework that interprets place as both experience and practice: on the one hand, by place as experience, I seek to understand how people develop a sense of place through sensory experiences; on the other hand, by place as practice, I try to capture, in the sensory aspect, how people make the place and develop the socialised meaning of the place, thereby contribute to the market’s community culture. In addition, I pay attention to the role of digital technologies in the two processes.
